Farooq Kathwari (U.S.)Farooq Kathwari is the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ethan Allen Interiors Inc., the international home furnishings manufacturer and retailer. Originally from Kashmir, he was educated in English Literature and Political Science at Kashmir University and received his M.B.A. in International Marketing from New York University. Farooq Kathwari is also Chairman of the Kashmir Study Group, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Trustee of the World Conference on Religion and Peace, Director and Former Chairman of Refugees International, a Director of International Rescue Committee, former President and Chairman of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association (now known as the American Home Furnishings Alliance), and Director and former Chairman of the National Retail Federation. He has received several recognitions, including the Gold Medal Award from the National Retail Federation, the International First Freedom Award from the Council for America’s First Freedom, and the Eleanor Roosevelt Val–Kill Medal. Farooq Kathwari has received honorary degrees from Sacred Heart University and Western Connecticut State University.
